Olivia R. Liu Sheng is Emma Eccles Jones Presidential Chair of Information Systems at the David Eccles School of Business, University of Utah.

Her research focuses on global information technology and management including distributed enterprise data and knowledge management, electronic commerce, telemedicine, telework and distributed learning. The research issues examined include content caching, personalized portal design, data warehouse and mining, object-oriented models and methods for data and knowledge base and application design, performance and architectural issues in data warehouse and ERP applications, and information technology management. She is directing the e.bis (enterprise and business intelligence system) lab where such research is housed. She has published in over 30 journal articles and has received funding from the U.S. Army, NSF, IBM, Toshiba Corp., Sun Microsystems, Hong Kong Research Grants Council, Asia Productivity Organization and SAP University Alliance.

Olivia is an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Electronic Commerce Research and Applications, Electronic Commerce Management Research, Telecommunication Systems and Journal of Information Technology and Management. She has guest or co-guest edited a number of special issues of IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, Decision Support Systems, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing and Telecommunication Systems on multimedia information systems and healthcare decision support.

She received the B.S. degree from the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, R.O.C. and the Master's and Ph.D. Degrees in Computers and Information Systems from the University of Rochester. She joined the faculty of Management Information Systems at the University of Arizona in 1985 and was the Department Head from 1997 to 2002. She has been visiting faculty at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Tokyo Institute of Technology.
